54) Revenue of software industry in Shanghai to reach 80 billion RMB

A software fair of exhibition and trade was held recently by SPSP (Shanghai Pudong Software Park). This fair targeted at the providers of global software service, which attracted many multinational companies in America, Japan, Spain and Russia to search for the providers of software service.

In Shanghai, more and more platforms of services about software outsourcing are appearing. They offer opportunities for software companies, but also they are the witness to the boom of information industry in Shanghai.

In these years, the information industry in Shanghai has been growing rapidly. In consequence, the revenue of this industry has increased to 600 billion RMB in 2006 from 100 billion RMB in 2001.

Software outsourcing shares, especially the shares of businesses of off-shore software outsourcing for multinational enterprises, have increased progressively and become a new engine to develop high-tech industry in Shanghai.

Additionally, they have transformed Shanghai practical business into the trade oriented to service. During the first six months in this year, in the information industry, the added-value occupied 13.6% of GDP in Shanghai, and was the forefront of major industries.

The industry of information contributed to 90% of high-tech industry, the income of software industry is hopeful to get 80 billion RMB this year.

Shanghai established a fund for developing software industry with 500 million RMB to support to develop the software outsourcing and information technology, and issued the "The Strategy Outline of Intellectual Property in Shanghai."

The strategy is to protect the rights of intellectual property and encourage the enterprises to innovate independently. Because of the system's formation of financial market and the production factors' improvement, a nice financing environment has been created by Shanghai for outsourcing companies. At present, over 200 software export companies have registered in Shanghai, the values of export have grown almost to 1 billion dollars.
