41) Chengdu Zone to Employ Software Talents Nationwide

Roughly fifty companies in Chengdu High-Tech Development Zone will be looking for talents at a job fair in Xi'an on Saturday.

Those companies including SAP, IBM and Alcatel have about one thousand mid-level and high-end posts to fill in the software department, which involve software development engineers, system integration testers, application consultants and platform software integration tests, said Li Minxue, leader of the zone's management committee.

The Xi'an fair is only part of the zone's scheme to recruite about ten thousand mid-level and high-end qualified employees in the software industry this year, revealed Li, the leader of the Chengdu delegation to the event. It plans to hold fairs in Beijing, Dalian, Wuhan, Shanghai and Shenzhen this year.

These fairs plan to not only bring in talent pool but also attempt to showcase the booming development of the software industry in Chengdu. Although Chengdu has a population of over sixty-five thousand in the software sector, it still needs an additional forty thousand to fifty thousand people in the industry every year, Li said.

Manufacturing is one of Chengdu's main industries. But as an inner city, it is so far away from the seaside that the city has to spend at least 50% more in the transportation expenditure than the coastal cities. It takes 5 days longer for products made in Chengdu to arrive in other nations than from the coastal areas.
