Optimistic majors: majors related to electronic information
Known as a sunrise industry, electronic information industry is the new high-tech field. High-tech enterprises which are supported by information technology will be the main force for socio-economic growth in the future, so its demand for talents will continue to show very strong momentum. Nowadays, even the symbol of high-tech achievements---the Silicon Valley in the US also faces information talents shortage. All of its own programming workers, researchers, engineers, computer analysts still can not meet the demands of numerous companies. Developed countries such as England and France also have this problem. China's electronic information industry is in its infancy stage, and has been identified as a national pillar industry and new economic growth point, so electronic information talent saturation is still a relatively distant thing. From the employment situation of college graduates in recent two years, those from electronic information majors were always the most popular on the job market, with at least 1 to 10 ratio of supply and demand. Graduates from these majors can choose their careers after careful deliberation and some even are waiting for higher price. If we look into the next few years, we will find that computers are adopted by all kinds of professions through fully exploration of their functions, so talents in computer science and information technology will be increasingly needed. By 2010, there will be a total of seven to nine million demands for talents in information service industry, 0.6 to 1 million in network service industry, 3.5 million in data service industry. From this point of view, in the next few years, electronic information professionals will continue to be the best-selling talents; even market position of undergraduates will reach to a considerably high level.
In addition, in recent years, almost all of the colleges and universities have opened computer science major and the scale to cultivate this type of talents has kept expanding, so the employment in the future for the graduates from this major may reduce a little bit, and competition will get fiercer, but from an overall point of view, this major can be described as "booming supply and demand", so its market demand is still huge, the employment prospect is still optimistic.
Additional information: China’s demand for talents in software outsourcing industry has been increasing since 2006, especially developers. Meanwhile, competitions among multinational companies for talents are getting tough. In addition, the position of GIS which used to be unpopular has revived and it becomes a hot career choice. Take Beijing for example, the statistics from Risejob, Zhaopin and Chinaren show that demands for this major are mainly in these professional fields: various software developing engineer, system developing engineer, system maintenance engineer, software testing engineer, network engineer, network administrator, database design, SQA engineer, webpage design, project management and etc. in which software engineer, network engineer and software testing engineer are the most popular ones in the job market.
