  CMM Certification

CMM Certification of SDIT

What is CMM?

With the purpose to assist software organizations to improve their softwate development process, the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) worked together with the Mitre Company in November 1986to develop a software process maturity framework named CMM, with which the government can evaluate the capability of their software partners.

With rich experience in the software process maturity framework field, they also do the initial version of the maturity questionnaire. Four years later, the SEI has developed the software process maturity framework into a complete model.

The CMM defines the principles as well as practices through the whole software development process. With the CMM definition, software companies are able to promote their software processes and offshore outsourcing processes from chaotic processes to be mature software processes. What CMM focuses is on the definition of essential process areas as well as exemplary practices which may involve a disciplined software process.

Common Features

The practices that implement and institutionalize a key process area are the common features of CMM, which include 5 types: Ability to Perform, Commitment to Perform, Measurement and Analysis, Verifying Implementation as well as Activities Performed.

The CMM3 pre-assessment covered all KPA's (Key Process Areas) of CMM2 & CMM3, including Requirements Management (RM) , Software Project Planning (SPP), Software Project Tracing and Oversight (SPTO), Software Configuration Management (SCM) , Software Quality Assurance (SQA), Organization Process Focus (OPF) , Organization Process Definition (OPD), Training Program (TP), Integrated Software Management ( ISM), Software Product Engineering (SPE), Intergroup Coordination (IGC), Software Peer Review (SPR), totally 12 KPA's. SDIT received high praise from the CMM3 assessment committee.

SDIT Passed CMM3 Assessment

During the process of CMM3 assessment, the CMM3 assessment team paid a visit to SDIT's high level software engineering process group (SEPG), software engineering group, training group, QA team, configuration management, as well as project managers. After checking all of documents of CMM process, organizing implementation, and project execution, which objectively reflect SDIT's software process improvement in the past year, the CMM3 assessment team gave a very high praise to SDIT for its application ability of CMM and its related theories as well as its high standard offshore software outsourcing management and offshore software development process. The assessment results prove that SDIT is always pursuing high standard management and operating system as well as the software outsourcing capability.
